Customer Service Officer – Subscriptions Department

Join the DA team
DA is a progressive supplier of print and digital books, journals and databases to academic libraries throughout Australia, employing 85 people in our Mitcham Vic. office. We have vacancy in our journals/magazines customer service team, providing subscriptions to printed and online journals for large libraries of all sizes. Work locally and enjoy the team if you’re skilled in databases, correspondence and good service.

What you would do:

  • Communicate mostly by email with librarians in academic and municipal libraries
  • Update the database for new prices, changes to frequency or amended titles etc.
  • Receive annual renewal instructions from libraries for their journals and magazines
  • Correspond with publishers all over the world in order to activate subscriptions on time
  • Manage claims for missing issues by corresponding with the supplier and the customer
  • Learn to use our highly specialised computer system, coping with some tedious work
  • Research and discover information about new journals needed by libraries, from major bibliographic databases and publisher websites
  • Work in a timely and consistent manner in order to meet customer expectations
  • Maintain good account relationships with customers by ensuring library needs are met.

To enjoy it, you would have:

  • Customer service experience - phone, email and confidence
  • Some understanding as a user of mainframe computer applications
  • Good keyboard and basic Word/Excel, and database searching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritise, show initiative and self-reliance
